With the appearance of his single "Soul Sista" on the 'Love & Basketball' movie soundtrack in 2000, Bilal gained much-deserved exposure and attention from people outside R&B circles. In addition, Bilal sang the hook on Common's "The 6th Sense" with neo-soul singer Jill Scott. He also commonly scats and plays keyboards at his live shows.
