FRIDAY BK: #nuMADNYC Spring Madness 2013 Group Art Show March 29th

nuMAD NYC Spring Madness 2013 Group Art Show brings together 30 of the freshest local and international artists to engage viewers in a multisensory experience featuring a a large scale street art installation, a collection of photographs and paintings, live DJS and a highly anticipated afterparty hosted by The Brooklyn Good Guys. nuMAD is post-2012 NY pop -it is a place to expect the unexpected, from artwork by your favorite musicians & streetwear designers to multimedia collaborations that aren't afraid to push the boundaries of art & consciousness. The featured artists took a two-week experimental residency at Bushwick's 3rdeye(sol)ation Gallery, during which a number of them created a large-scale mural and the gallery functioned as a creative studio where artists were asked to produce new collaborative multimedia projects. The artists mentored and collaborated with youths from the local community and other boroughs during their residency-some of their works will also be on display. The process and the participating artists will be documented and be featured in the first issue  of nuMAD zine.

Join nuMAD NYC for an epic night full of art & music to remember.

NEW RELEASE: @QUELLECHRIS - We Eat It & Long Tokes (feat. @Cavalier) from NIGGAS IS MEN

New video for We Eat It from QUELLE CHRIS feauring CAVALIER - brilliant as expected

A few months back Quelle Chris signed to a multi-project deal with Mello Music Group. As Quelle prepares his debut proper for later this year, the prolific producer/emcee (who is most famous for his work with Danny Brown, Sean Price, and Roc Marci) decided to put together a new project with some of his peoples: Cavalier, Fresh Daily, Tanya Morgan, Denmark, DJ GroWeyez, and more. The result is 2Dirt4TV Ep. 2: "Niggas Is Men", a 13 track album dropping digitally March 19th.

After the first School Daze inspired single LONG TOKES dropped, Quelle and company put together a video for the track "We Eat It" featuring Cavalier. Through a smokey horn sample, Quelle and Cav talk that socially conscious rap about GMOs, Hydrogenated oils, and the poisonous wasteland our daily menu has become. Quelle Chris not only raps, but produces the track, and edited the video as well. Enjoy the latest visuals and prepare for "Niggas Is Men" to drop next week! [Mello Music Group]

Here is Quelle's first single 'Long Tokes' that dropped a few days ago, also featuring Brooklyn fam Cavalier, earning the album an instant "must listen" from Complex. The hypnotic blues gives a strong visual quality to the equally hypnotic delivery. The rest of the album is similarly cinematic & raw, showcasing Quelle's super prolific & unique production/vocal style. The album's guests also came through for this one...definitely look out for the album Niggas Is Men hailing the spring like a breath of fresh air on March 19th

ARTIST TO WATCH: Selah Says - "Concrete Jungle" [Official VIDEO]

Today I had a chance to connect with Selah Says to build on the artistic tip & possible collabos in the future, and realized after I got back home that I was completely clueless about her music projects. I've met Selah back in 2009, and though she moved away from New York, we kept up with each other's work and I was aware of her visual work, but not her music...she is on some other level, I'm her new fan. Check out more of her tracks on youtube.

In Selah's own words: This is Selah Says a.k.a. your SONIC Love MakerGet You SOME™

In this particular song, "Concrete Jungle," I reference one of my FAVORITE Artist of all-time Bob Marley. Marleys version of the song describes DESPAIR and in a way, I was I was in a state of despair when I began writing the rap to my version of the song, so his lyrics No chains on my feet, but Im not free accurately described my state of being at the time. The more I listened to Marleys version of Concrete Jungle and mulled over my own emotions, I felt the need to release in another way besides singing and rapping so I decided to use one of my other talents—beat boxing. Beat boxing is very cathartic for me and by the time I finished making this video, I felt better.
Hip Hop is the SHIT! LOL! As for the particulars, the beat is from PHARRELL's song entitled from his solo album "In my Mind." I LOVE the Old School Wu-Tang feel to the beat. It made me want to SPIT (rap).
